About SIGs

Aims and Objectives of SIGs

  • 1.  To provide a platform for its members with similar professional interests to exchange ideas and keep themselves informed about current and discrete developments in their fields of interest
  • 2.  To enhance collaboration of PSH with other societies in country and across the globe with similar interests in the field of Hepatology
  • 3.  To upgrade the level of care in different fields of Hepatology in our country most effectively. To ensure this, SIGs will:
    • a.  Review related literature and distribute among all members
    • b.  Produce position papers / practice guidelines for PSH
    • c.  Hold CME activities in their related fields
    • d.  Create opportunities for enhancing professional capabilities of all members
    • e.  Prepare policies to incorporate latest updates in everyday clinical practice at least by members of PSH members
    • f.  Develop simple protocols (algorithms) to be followed in everyday clinical practice
    • g.  Strive for developing competency of PSH members on its topic
    • h.  Encourage required research on their fields
    • i.  Plan and Coordinate multi center related research

Composition of SIGs

  • There is no limit for number of Members in any SIG
  • Each SIG shall have a Chairman and a Secretary, nominated amongst the Members of SIG and compulsorily approved the by EC
  • Chairman can invite any number of co-opted member(s) for any specific task / project, if such expertise is not available amongst regular members. His / her selection will be only for defined task / project and time period. On advice of chairman, the Secretary of SIG will have to seek permission of the EC to invite such co-opted member(s)
  • All Members of SIG are supposed to take active part in the group activity and attend 60% of group meetings. In case of failure to do so, he / she may loose SIG membership
  • Written prior information to the Chair / Secretary is required to leave SIG anytime the member wishes to do so

Functioning of SIGs

  • PSH Executive Council will govern these SIGs.
  • Chairman of SIG will ensure:
    • Regular holding of his / her group meetings
    • Regular contact by emails and online means
    • Regular input of all members of group
    • Preparation of activity report for EC in annual meeting of PSH
  • Secretary of SIG:
    • Will help the Chairman to run the activity of SIG
    • Will prepare minutes of all meetings of SIG and send to EC
    • Will present activity report to EC in annual meeting of PSH
  • Executive Council will create opportunities of logistical and financial support for SIG’s projects
  • All projects will be reviewed and approved by Executive Council
  • PSH will make Research Facilitation & Ethical Review Board (RF-ERB) for this purpose

Chairman

  • To explain Members about given Targets (explained above)
  • To dedicate tasks to Members to achieve these targets
  • To guide Members how to accomplish these targets
  • To ensure regular working of members online or contact meetings
  • To ensure regular working of members online or contact meetings
  • To ensure regular working of members online or contact meetings
  • To ensure timeline is properly followed by Members
  • To explore ways and means how to execute these Projects
  • To present Products of his/her SIG to EC and GB of PSH

Secretary

  • To help Chairman in ensuring proper functioning of SIG
  • To coordinate with all Members
  • To ensure regular working of members online or contact meetings
  • To ensure timeline is properly followed by Members
  • To formulate drafts via Members
  • To maintain Minutes of proceedings of SIG

Member

  • To work on tasks assigned by the Chairman
  • To suggest and help whole team how to achieve the targets
  • To follow timeline properly
  • To keep liaison with other members of SIG

Membership of SIGs

  • All SIGs are open for all good standing members of PSH to participate in as Members.
  • Only PSH members can become Members of these SIGs
  • Each Member can belong to as many SIGs as desired
